Immigration (moving from another country)

Are you coming to live in Alkmaar from abroad? And will you be staying in the Netherlands for more than 4 months? In that case, you must register personally at the city hall in Alkmaar within 5 days after your arrival in the Netherlands.

Please make an appointment in advance by calling 14 072. If you are calling from abroad, please call +31 (0)72 548 88 88.

Do you not have the Dutch nationality? In that case, you may first need to apply for a residence permit with the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND). You can contact the IND about this on +31 (0)88 0430 430.

  • Yourself and any minor children
  • Your passport or proof of identity
  • Your rental or purchase contract.

While making the appointment, you will be informed of any further documents you may need to bring.

Are you moving in with someone or are you going to live together? In that case you will need permission from the main resident at the address where you are going to live. Please have the main occupant complete the form declaration of residence and bring it with you to the appointment.
