Emigration (moving to another country)

Emigration means that you are or will be living abroad for more than 8 months in a year. These do not have to be consecutive 8 months. You have to deregister from the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP). You do that by reporting your emigration. Even if you keep your house in the Netherlands, you will need to deregister.

Report your emigration to us no later than 5 days before you move. On the day that you report your departure to us, we will deregister you from our municipality.
