RNI - Change of registration

Are you registered in the RNI (Non-Residents Registration) and would you like to change your address abroad or other data? Or do you live abroad and did you receive an error message when applying for a DigiD because data is incorrect? Please report your changes so that the RNI (Non-Residents Registration) can be updated.

English:

Alkmaar is from 01-01-2026 an official RNI desk for people with a European or EEA passport. This means that if you have an EU/EEA passport, you can register in the Non-Residents Registration (RNI) in Alkmaar.

Alkmaar no longer handles RNI registrations for people with a non-European passport. If you do not have an EU/EEA passport, you can register only at the RNI desks in Breda or Venlo.

You can register your new address in two ways:

1. Online

You can register your new address online with DigiD and without DigiD.

Important: you can register the change of address for yourself, the person you are married to/registered partner with and children. The condition is that they also move with you to the same address. During the online application, you must also upload a copy of their valid passport or identity card. The person you are married to/registered partner with and adult children must also sign the form.

2. Visit the RNI-desk

Are you unable to report a change of address online? You can make an appointment for this. You cannot visit without an appointment.

Do you need to have your personal data in the RNI adjusted or supplemented? In that case, you will have to visit the RNI desk in Alkmaar in person. This is by appointment only. You can make an appointment by sending an e-mail to rni@alkmaar.nl.   You can have the following data changed in the RNI:

  • first or last name;
  • telephone number;
  • email address;
  • temporary residence address in the Netherlands;
  • nationality;
  • gender.

What do I bring to the appointment?

  • A valid passport of identity card;
  • The original documents that prove that your personal data had been changed. Ask the RNI counter which documents you need to bring. Sometimes the foreign document needs to be legalised or translated. You can check this per country on the website of the Central Government. Enter the country where your document was issued.

  • your children (including the authority over your children);
  • your parents;
  • your partner (married or in a registered partnership);
  • marital status (married or in a registered partnership).
  • travel documents.

More information:

These data are transferred to the RNI as they were registered at the time of deregistration. After that, these data will no longer be changed. These data will only be updated again when you register in the Netherlands again. Have you registered with an RNI counter? Or has a government organisation registered you in the RNI? Then these data are not included in the RNI. You cannot add them either.
